Department Improves ISO Rating

The Bonita Sunnyside Fire Protection District is pleased to announce that through determination and diligence, the department has improved its ISO rating from a Class 3 to a Class 2.  An independent fire rating agency, the Insurance Service Office (ISO), is responsible for assessing the capabilities of fire agencies throughout the country and recently completed a 3-month long evaluation of the Bonita Fire Department.  As a result, property owners in Bonita could see their insurance premiums decrease.

ISO ratings are based on several factors including emergency communications, training, equipment, water supply and staffing.  “We consider our ISO rating as an important benchmark in the planning of our fire suppression and prevention efforts,“ explained Captain Mike Smith.  “The Bonita Sunnyside Fire Protection District strives to provide the very best service to our residents, and we encourage property owners to contact their insurance companies to find out if this improved rating affects their policy.”
